Austin Mansaray added an insurance goal by out-hustling two Wildcat defenders to get on the end of a slotted ball from the midfield by Salas. Mansaray’s first touch played him behind both defenders where he calmly chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper’s hands and into the wide open net. Sports Results:
** Monday, the 7th grade Dux soccer club jumped all over the bulldogs of Byron Center beating them 8-0. Solid passing and control of the ball gave the Dux ample scoring opportunities. Goals came of the foot of Trigve Elkins, Landon Demint, Ben Keuning, Jacob Schultz and Micha Henry with his second hat trick of the year. Posting the shut out in goal for the Dux was Jacob Schultz and Max Settlemyer. Great job boys.

** The 8th grade boys soccer team tied Byron Center Monday night, 1-1 in hot and muggy conditions. The Dux jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Josh Overzet centered a ball to Sammy Salas, who buried his shot from near the penalty spot less than 10 minutes into the game. Byron Center would equalize in the 3rd period off of a breakaway.

Despite dominating possession and generating multiple chances, the Byron Center defense held, and the Dux could not find the back of the net.

Sports Results:

The 8th grade boys soccer team improved to 3-0 on the season with a thrilling come from behind victory over Holland Christian on Tuesday night. After trailing 0-1 at the half, the Dux made some adjustments and began moving the ball better and creating more quality scoring opportunities. The effort and focus paid off as Josh Overzet and Joey DeWeerd combined on a great passing sequence which led to a wide open Sammy Salas inside the penalty box. Salas’ right footed blast sailed over the head of the HC keeper to knot the score at 1-1 with about 15 minutes to go in the game.

Salas netted the game winner with about 5 minutes to play by burying his penalty kick after being taken out inside the penalty box. The play was set up by a beautiful pass by Andrew Edwards.
Nolan Church, Brandon Schader, Austin Mansaray and Virgil Keomoungkhoune provided great minutes off the bench for the Dux, in helping to secure the victory. Tyler Dykstra made 7 saves in net. Well done boys!

Sports Results:

**In the 8th grade match, the Dux earned their second shutout of the season with a hard fought 2-0 victory over the Eagles of Hudsonville on Thursday. Sammy Salas scored in the first half off of a beautiful slotted cross from Josh Overzet as the Dux took a 1-0 lead into the second half. The Dux made it 2-0 midway through the second half when Andrew Edwards intercepted an Eagle pass near midfield and delivered a nice thru ball to Josiah Faucher who gathered the ball and fired a shot from 25 yards out that looped up and over the keeper’s fingertips.

The Dux midfield (Josiah Faucher, Joey DeWeerd, Andrew Edwards, Josh Overzet, Virgil Keomoungkhoune, and Austin Mansaray) was solid throughout the match and used great ball movement and passing to keep the Eagles from mounting much of an attack.  The game was called with about 14 minutes to play due to an injury on the field.
Tyler Dykstra made 3 saves for the Dux. The Dux are 2-0 on the season and travel to Holland Christian next week. Way to go boys!
** The Creekside tennis team lost a tough match to West Ottawa Thursday by a score of 1 1/2 to 5.  Several of the matches came down to tie breakers but the Dux came up a little short.  Winning matches for Creekside were: Anna DeVries/Kara Bartels, Liv Spykerman/Lili Medoza, Tessa Rindfliesch/Sofia Flores Sanchez, Kayla Miles/Marissa Brower, Alaina Erdman/Jadyn Keatley.

** The 7th grade boys soccer team jumped out to an early lead over Hudsonville Thursday on a goal put in by Sam DiLaura in the first half. Trigve Elkins punched another goal home on a beautiful cross from Andrew Kraft. Three minutes later Elkins was taken down in the box giving him a free pass from the penalty stripe making it 3-0. But the Dux weren’t done yet. Ben Kuening received the ball in the corner, crossed it to the center where Landon Demint pushed his way through to find the back of the net. The final score was Dux 4 and Eagles 1. Way to go Dux.
