Reminder ALL Students: This week Friday the 15th is a half day/ Dismissal @ 10:45am!

This Friday – is just a half day but is filled with a lot of student activities. Please remember to start your day by heading to the large gym for an assembly. You will not need bags, books, or any technology, so please store those in your lockers.

After the assembly, students will go directly to their DEAR classes for approximately 30 minutes. The remainder of the day will be split up into two fun activity periods. You should have signed up last week for your choice of 1 full length movie or two activity periods.

A list of where activities are taking place can be found on the library windows up front. You can also see your schedule for those two activities on the library windows as well. Lists are organized by grade level and alphabetical (by first name)

If after consulting the schedules, you have any questions, please stop in the office.

**7th graders–this Friday (the half day) your vision will be tested in the front office.  Please bring your glasses/contacts that day.  If your last name starts with A or B, please come to the office @ 7:30 a.m. to start testing before the assembly begins.  The rest of the 7th graders will be called out during the morning.
8th Grade Students:  If you would still like an 8th grade class photo, please bring $10 to the office.  There are only a few left.

**Ski Club Members...

Our first after school outing to Bittersweet is scheduled for this week Thursday (12/14). If you already purchased your ski club card, the total cost for this outing is $21 + rentals ($5 for transportation, $16 for the lift ticket). If you have not purchased your ski club card, it is not too late to join the club. To join, fill out the registration form in Mr. Hondorp’s classroom and return it with $16 to obtain your card.
Anyone wishing to attend this outing must have either a ski club card or a season pass to Bittersweet to be eligible. All money is due to Mr. Hondorp by this week Wednesday, December 13. Space is limited, reserve your spot today

**Attention all wrestlers we have formed a club this year call Zeeland Wrestling Club. I invite you all to come out on Monday nights from 6:30- 8:00 at the Zeeland East High School Wrestling room. This will allow you to get in some practice time this year before the season starts and will continue to run after the season as well.  If you have any questions you can contact Coach Bazan at justinbazan@att.net.
****Attention any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girls interested in basketball.  There will be open gyms from 3-4 pm Wednesday December 6 and  13 in Creekside’s small gym and in the main gym on Dec. 20thCome and check it out!  Questions please contact Coach Ross or Coach Swanson.
*Game club time! All are welcome!  We meet in Mr. Gordillo’s room after school on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:45.

What?  Please bring in your newspapers, catalogs/magazines/junk mail/phone books/office-school paper.  We cannot take plastic, metal, trash, glass, or cardboard.  

Where?  In the back of Creekside  (Look for “Paper Gator” on the bin)

When? 24-7(drop off anytime)  

What will the paper become?  The paper will be shredded and processed into hydro-seeding mulch, lawn establishment products, lawn repair products, cat litter, dog litter or small animal bedding. Help us become a greener world!!!! Recycle!!!

Sports Results:
**The middle school girls swim season finished last weekend with the conference meet held in Grand Haven.  Out of 7 teams, Zeeland took 3rd place.  The meet began on Friday with the diving events.  Carly Sleeman finished 1st, Hannah Nienhuis was 4th, and Shea Willette was 6th.  On Saturday, there were several fast races with many best times.  Katelyn Inman, Lillya Boetsma, Bri Johnson, and Rylee Sluiter were second in the medley relay.  Katelyn Inman also won the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.  Swimmers who placed in the top 8 were Emily Pifer was 7th in the 200 free, Bri Johnson was 7th in the 100 IM and 4th in the 50 fly, Rylee Sluiter took 3rd in the 50 free and 5th in the 100 free, and Delaney Ketchum was 7th in the 100 free.  Adiline Oberst, Kelaney Ketchum, Abby Brinks, and Fiona Boerman swam the free relay and finished 4th.
      The girls swam a total of 79 races, with 53 of them being best times.  Swimmers with significant time drops were Emily Pifer, Allie Head, Reece Nykamp, Hannah Beadle, Zoe Clark, Haylee McAndrews, Haddassh Sabin, Angelina Fuentes-Melendez, Elizabeth Safirt, Elise Jackson, Cora Mielke, Sam Assink, Megan Dykema, Marissa Brower, Yunen TeranHernandez, Rylee Brown, Ava Jacobsen, and Olivia Hamilton.

Sports News:

**The 7th grade boys basketball team was clicking on all cylinders during their game last night as they played good defense and knocked down shots from all areas of the court.  The boys looked like rocket scientist as they launched to a 30 point win over Reeths Puffer, 62-32.  Leading the Dux was Josh Agar with 12 long range points.  Joe Ruch knocked down 8 pts while Joey DeWeerd and Trevor Wallar each added 6.
**The 8th grade boys basketball team outlasted a sharp shooting Reeths Puffer squad.  The Dux needed three overtimes to walk away with the win.  Leading scorers for the Dux were Bergen Loeprich, Drew Weenum, Kylan Arnold, Hunter Busscher, and Austin Bomers.  The Dux are in action at home on Monday, Dec 11 as they take on Grand Haven.

In crab soccer action from yesterday, there was a back and forth battle between the Destroyers and the Janitors.  The Destroyers started off with a quick lead, but the Janitors ended up with the win.  The final score Janitors 6, Destroyers 4!

Sports News:

The 7th grade basketball team lost a tough game vs Byron Center yesterday by a score of 39-49.  The boys played well as the won the 2nd half but they couldn’t quit catch the bulldogs.  Leading the Dux was Deklen Klamt with 12 points and Trevor Wallar with 12 rebounds.  The boys play again on Wednesday vs. Reeths Puffer at home.

The 8th grade team took on a talented Byron Center squad.  The Dux won in a thriller as Bergen Loeprich knocked down a three pointer with 1.4 seconds remaining to seal the win.  Leading scorers for the Dux were Bergen Loeprich, Kylan Arnold, Drew Weenum, Isaac Hondorp, and Austin Bomers.  On the defensive end, the Dux played tremendous team D as their energy and hustle wore down the Bulldogs.  The Dux are in action at home on Wednesday as they play Reeths Puffer.

Sports News:

The 7th grade basketball team played a tough game vs. Fruitport but came up 3 points short with a final score of 43-46.  Leading Creekside in scoring was Josh Agar with 13 and Skyler Geurink with 8 pts.  Leading the team in rebounding was Trevor Wallar with 15 and Josh Wierenga with 10.

The 8th grade team lost to a talented Fruitport team on Friday night.  Leading scorers for the Dux were Drew Weenum, Bergen Loeprich, Kylan Arnold, Austin Bomers, Mitch Middleton, Isaac Hondorp, Gavin Shidler, and Toby Reinardy.  The Dux are in action again Monday evening as they travel to Byron Center.

**The middle girls swim team had their final duel meet Thursday night against Grandville.  There was some great races, but Grandville took the win.  The final score was 65-91.  Katelyn Inman won the 100 IM and the 100 backstroke.  Our divers, Carly Sleeman, Shea Wilette, and Ella Compagner, took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  Other top scorers were Fiona Boerman, Rilee Sluiter, Bri Johnson, and Alana DeWeerd.  Swimmers with season best times were Haddassah Sabin, Ruthie Guy, Sam Assink, Rylee Sluiter, Olivia Hamilton, Ava Jacobsen, Lilya Boetsma, Lauryn Hansen, Megan Dykema, Adeline Oberst, Olivia Hamilton, Megan Thompson, Celly Lopez, and Jo-Jo Perkins.

Sports News:

**The 7th grade boys basketball team took on Holland Weds. and played a really good game but came up 2 points short, 42-44.  This game went into overtime as Holland hit a bucket as the end of the game buzzer went off to win it.  Creekside had a balance scoring attack as 11 guys hit the scoring column.  Josh Wierenga led the Dux with 10 points while Trevor Wallar knocked down 8 and Alex Lencioni 7.  The boys play again Friday night in Fruitport.

**The 8th grade boys basketball team lost a tough game to a scrappy Holland squad on Weds..  The Dux dug themselves a big hole early but battled back by playing tough physical defense the second half.  Leading scorers for the Dux were Kylan Arnold, Josh Kroll, Bergen Loeprich, Brendan Gabrion, Isaac Hondorp, and Drew Weenum.  Gavin Sidler and Zach Schwartz provided great energy on the defensive end that helped spark the comeback.  The Dux travel to Fruitport on Friday.

Sports News:

**The 8th grade team battled a tough Cityside team  but came up short in the end.  Leading scorers for the Dux were Kylan Arnold, Josh Kroll, Mitch Middleton, Drew Weenum, and Bergen Loeprich.  Isaac Hondorp and Austin Bomers played with great energy at the defensive end.  The Dux travel to Holland on Wednesday.

**The 7th grade basketball team took on Cityside Tuesday in a very close game.  The lead in this one went back and forth several times between the teams and Creekside found themselves down a good portion of the 4th quarter.  However, the Dux fought back and found themselves down by only 1 with possession of the ball and 6 ticks left on the clock.  After setting up a play in the time out, the Dux through it in to Joe Ruch who had no choice but to scrap the play and make something happen on his own.  He proceeded to sink a 11 ft jumper at the buzzer to give the Dux the 1 point win, 35-34.   Trevor Wallar scored 11 pts in addition to pulling down 12 rebounds.  Deklen Klamt added 8 pts while Skyler Geurink grabbed 9 rebounds and Josh Wierenga 7.

**The middle school dance class will perform at the high school dance concert matinee on Saturday at 12pm.  Come out and support the middle school dancers in their first major dance performance of the school year!  Tickets are on sale now.  You can get them by calling 748-3111 or you can get them at the door 45 minutes before the show begins.  Student tickets are $8.00.  Please see Mrs. Landes in the Quack Shack before, or right after 1st hour, if you have any questions about the concert.
**Attention all wrestlers we have formed a club this year call Zeeland Wrestling Club. I invite you all to come out on Monday nights from 6:30- 8:00 at the Zeeland East High School Wrestling room. This will allow you to get in some practice time this year before the season starts and will continue to run after the season as well.  If you have any questions you can contact Coach Bazan at justinbazan@att.net.

6th Grade Crab Soccer Schedule – (Games will begin promptly at 12:20pm)
In a thrilling crab soccer game from yesterday, the Pink Panthers took on the undefeated Destroyers team.  Early on, the Destroyers dominated, capitalizing on several opportunities to jump out to a quick 2 goal lead.  The Pink Panthers mustered their forces and took one back.  The Destroyers answered by scoring a few more times.  With under two minutes to play, the Pink Panthers rallied to get within one.  Then with time expiring, the Pink Panthers knocked in one final score to tie the game up!  Final score 4-4.

**In the battle of the barnyard, the Flying Pigs took on the Purple Cows in crab soccer yesterday.  The Purple Cows dominated most of the play, taking the air out of the Flying Pigs wings.  Final score was 4-2, putting the Purple Cows as king of the barnyard!

Sports News:
**The middle school girls swim team had another victory on Tuesday, November 21, when they swam against Holland Christian.  The final score was 81-75.  Top finishers for Zeeland were Fiona Boerman, Katelyn Inman, Rylee Sluiter, Alana DeWeerd, Bri Johnson, Carly Sleeman, and Ella Compagner.  Fiona Berman finished with two individual best times.  Other swimmers who had best times were Megan Dykema, Morgan Selles, Marissa Brower, Maddie McCullough, Zoe Clark, Celly Lopez, Allie Head, Shaylee Moomey, Anna Gronevelt, Ally Panavong, and YunenTeran-Hernandez.
**The 7th grade boys basketball team played a great game last Tuesday as they beat Valleywood from East Kentwood by a score of 60-32.  12 players hit the scoring column in this one with Josh Wierenga knocking down 11 points while Josh Agar and Deklen Klamt each chipped in 10.  Andrew Edwards also scored 7.  Trevor Wallar and Josh Wierenga led the team in rebounds.
**The 8th grade boys basketball team lost a tough game to Valleywood last Tues..  Leading scorers were Kylan Arnold, Isaac Hondorp, Bergen Loeprich, Drew Weenum, Gavin Shidler, Mitch Middleton, and Austin Bomers.  The Dux are in action again on Tuesday, Nov 28 when they take on Cityside at Home.  Come on out and cheer on the Dux.

In crab soccer action from Tuesday, the Janitors took on the Pink Panthers.  The Janitors looked like they might clean it right up, scoring 2 quick goals, but the Pink Panthers fought back to tie it up.  The Janitors again took the lead, but the Pink Panthers answered.  With a shot on the way for the Janitors, time expired, leaving this thrilling game at a 3-3 tie!

**The 7th grade basketball team played a tough game versus East Rockford Monday night and came up a little short with a final score of 22-36.  Leading the Dux in scoring was Trevor Wallar with 6 points and 13 rebounds.  David Rockel added 3 points while Skyler Geurink ripped down 8 rebounds.
**The 8th grade team traveled to East Rockford and came up short Monday night.  Leading scorers for the Dux were Kylan Arnold, Bergen Loeprich, Mitch Middleton, Drew Weenum, and Hunter Busscher.  Zach Schwartz and Brendan Gabrion played with great energy on the defensive end.
